Dear friend - If you are in Christ, if you know Him as your Savior and Lord, then whatever He calls you to do is significant.
We, humans, have a tendency to compare ourselves with others - and that includes believers!
If we are a stay-at-home parent or caregiver, we tend to think that's not as important or significant as someone who owns a business or leads a ministry.
If we are a factory worker, we tend to think our job is not as important as the supervisor's role.
The truth is that each of us carries far more significance than we realize!
What seems to be the simplest kind of calling on someone's life can actually be the hardest to perform because it requires the same submission to the Holy Spirit and the Lordship of Jesus as any other calling or purpose.
This past week, my husband caught a terrible sore throat virus that kept us both up in broken sleep most nights. And while I am called as a life coach, teacher, and minister, I am also called to be the wife he needs. The calling to take care of and affirm a sweet husband is just as important in the eyes of God as when I am coaching a client or speaking before a church.
When I served as Preschool and Children's Minister in a local church, there were the behind-the-scenes individuals, both men and women, who served in the church nursery. They came every week and held babies, taught toddlers, and loved on preschoolers so that the parents of those children could attend the worship service. There was rarely any thanks or applause given, but they knew they were serving the Lord.
What God calls you to do always asks for everything you think you are. Whether you struggle with feelings of insignificance or feelings of self-importance, we all need to see and accept the magnitude and importance we already have as a child of God.
There is already more meaning, value, and substance to your life than you realize. God calls you His child and Jesus calls you His friend. What could be more precious than that?
Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life.

We need to remember that serving the one is just as valuable a calling as serving the many. Now, go shine like stars!
