Wholehearted Courage – healed to live brave
I walked along that beach after the sun had gone down. It was my first ever spiritual retreat and I knew God had called me to be there. Alone with Him in mid-October. I had no idea what to expect, but I knew I needed a lot. A lot of healing, hope, and strength. It was the most difficult and desperate season of my life and my feet felt bloody from walking such a hard road.
I had been separated from my husband for 8 months and was losing hope that things could be repaired. But God birthed hope on that beach when I saw it.
A perfect Whelk shell the size of my palm. My mouth dropped open as I picked it up. Right out loud I said, “I’ve never found a whole one before!” And immediately, I heard the tender voice of God in my spirit say, “I can make you whole.”
That was 1999 and with one day at the time, my journey took another path towards wholeness and healing and discovering what He had made me for. Looking back, it seems like yesterday, but today my heart has joy that nothing can take from me. I used to be immersed in fear, trying to survive and keep everyone safe and okay, but God stepped in right on time. He has made me whole, strong, and transformed my life by the truth in His very Word.
I want this for you.
No matter what you have been through, no matter if it’s what someone else has done or maybe what you have done to yourself, your Father can make you whole. And not just whole, well, and feeling better. I’m talking life-changing, joy-filled, purpose transforming, mind renewing, confidence-building, and destiny-birthing stuff! The stuff of the Kingdom of Heaven!
Every word of God is true. He has removed the rags of insignificance and insecurity and dressed me in strength and dignity. And my transformation, while still incomplete, makes me incredibly thankful!
“She is clothed in strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future!” Proverbs 31:25
With a journey that includes almost 20 years ministry experience and 4 years as a Certified Life Coach, I am now able to help others discover ways to walk out their journey with increased wholeness.
The word ‘Whole’ is defined as (1) free of wound or injury : unhurt; (2) : recovered from a wound or injury : restored; (3): being healed.
I believe if we walk with God, developing an ever deepening relationship, that we are always in the process of “being healed”. Jesus came to restore all that had been lost at the fall in Genesis 3. Not just so you can “be saved” but so you can be restored as the person God originally designed you to be – a woman of courage, strength, wisdom, leadership, and influence; a woman of discernment who moves in her spiritual gifts, hears God’s voice, and follows the vision He gives.
This year has been very difficult for many. The Lord put a desire in my heart to help us go forward together by offering an event, a mini-retreat that would begin or increase your journey towards wholeness and being wholehearted. I found myself remembering my story of the beach and what He had said when I found the shell (that I completely believe He placed there just for me).
The word ‘Wholehearted’ means (1) completely and sincerely devoted, determined, or enthusiastic; (2) marked by complete earnest commitment : free from all reserve or hesitation.
So much of our lives are characterized by fear, stress, and anxiety. But that is the opposite of what God wants for you. Consider coming to this event and making this next year of life your best yet:
Come gather with 12 of us at the Wilson Farmhouse outside Hemingway, SC for 3 hours that are designed to change your life, renew your mind, and begin to bring healing to your wounds! The link above will take you to the Eventbrite page with all the info and you can get your ticket there. We’re going to learn, laugh, eat, and vision-cast! We’re going to be real – for there’s hidden strength in vulnerability! And if there’s tears of pain or joy, we will have plenty of tissues on hand! I will also have several free gifts for you! And the food will be homey and delicious! All you need to bring are your Bible and a pen.
Do this for yourself. Do this for a friend, sister, or loved one you care about. But do this. Give it as a Christmas gift! Even to yourself! What greater gift, other than Jesus, could you give than God’s truth that can heal and inspire!

Remember what I learned the hard way: Courage is not the absence of fear but the feeling you have when you decide that fear is not going to stop you.
